GERMANY

Thomas Meyer Falk, JVA Bruchsal, Zelle 3117, Schoenbornstr. 32, 76646 Bruchsal, Germany: In 1996, Thomas was sent down for a bank robbery. He’ll be inside until at least 2010. Because of his strong beliefs, he’s been subject to very harsh repression – kept in solitary, daily cell raids, suppression and censorship of mail (no packages, and he has recently been denied his regular correspondence with some political groups by High Court Ruling), no access to education. On top of this his cell is in bad disrepair. Protest letters and faxes are needed towards improving his conditions. When writing to him don’t mention you are a political supporter. Besides hand-written letters, the only things he can get in the post are 3 IRC’s at a time.

TWO ARRESTS ON SABOTAGE AND ARSON CHARGES

Around eight o'clock on Thusday morning (09/02/2006) a comrade got arrested as he was going home from work. Several masked up men belonging to the antiterrorist police stormed the place where he was working and forced him into a van. Our comrade got then driven to his house in the neighbourhood of Horta where a house raid began. The police took fingerprint samples from all over the house and took away computers, hard drives, and paperwork. During the raid also another comrade is arrested but he is then released without charges the following day. At the same time another comrade's house is raided in the center of town and he is arrested. On the same day a picket in front of the police station where our comrades were kept gathers around 150 people. On Saturday 11th the two comrades declared in front of the judge who confirmed their arrest decreting preventive imprisonment waiting trial. They are being accused of public disorder and several acts of sabotage including an arson attack to the Sabadell Bank and to the C.I.R.E. (Centre de Iniciatives por la Reinsercio), an enterprise which exploits cheap prison labour in Catalunya. The main investigation in fact is focused on the CIRE, which has been targetted several times in the past among which a low intensity bomb on the 17th January 2005, an arson attack on the 22nd October 2004 and an unexploded bonb which nevertheless caused the evacuation of the entire building. On Friday 10th, people gathered in front of the court house where the two were waiting to declare, the police brutally charged the group of people sitting outside, causing various injuries. On Sunday people met again for a demo outside the Modelo prison where the comrades were being kept, but once again the demo got charged by the police and Ruben, one of the two comrades got ghosted to Brians prison. On Tuesday Ignasi got trasferred to the prison of Quatre Camins.

SWITZERLAND

Marco Camenisch, Poeschwies, Postfach 3143, 8105 Regensdorf, Switzerland.
In 1980 anarchist and eco-activist Marco Camenisch was arrested, and after a year being on remand, the court pronounced a 10 year prison sentence, for direct action against a pylon and a nuclear power station for ecological reasons. In 1981, together with 5 other prisoners, he escaped from prison - a prison warder died, another was seriously injured. Marco wasn't part of the group which shot them. After ten years of clandestine living and strugging, Swiss federal police and media claimed him responsible for the killing of a border police officer. After a shootout with the Carabinieri, he was arrested in 1992 in Italy, served 9 years and was extradited back to Switzerland, where he remains in prison. In June 2004, he got a further 17 year prison imprisonment for the murder of the border guard, though he always denied his involvement in the murder (see his statement before the court on freecamenish website). As he escaped from prison in 1981, he'll also have to serve the 8 years he had left when leaving with 5 fellows. The court didn't find him directly guilty of murdering the prison guard during the escape, but he was considered jointly responsible for it.

MEXICO: ZAPATISTA PRISONERS

Latest Zapatista prisoners communiqué: There are still five Zapatista political prisoners imprisoned in the states of Tabasco and Queretaro. Angel Concepcio'n Perez Gutierrez and Francisco Perez Vazquez have been sentenced to 25 years, and Carrillo Vazquez Lopez to 9 ½ years in prison in Tabasco. Sergio Geronimo Sanchez Saenz and Anselmo Robles Sanchez have completed their sentence but are still being held in Queretero prison.
This is the latest communiqué from La Voz de Cerro Hueco in Tabasco:
December 2, 2002
To the Local, National, and International Civil Society:
To the Chiapan, National, and International Press:
We Zapatista political prisoners of La Voz de Cerro Hueco (the Voice of Cerro Hueco) send spirited greetings to all from Tabasco: We political prisoners from Zapatista support bases continue resisting in prison, as do the comrades of Quere'taro. We prisoners in Tabasco are indigenous c'holes from Chiapas that are in a situation of bad conditions. We sleep on the ground and when it rains we are totally flooded with water as is the situation for other people in other parts of the world but in prison it is much worse because we are imprisoned without committing any crime and we continue having to listen to the federal government lie that there are no more Zapatista prisoners, but in Tabasco and Quere'taro we are still in prison, resisting.
But in the same way as us, our communities continue to be faced with problems of pursuit and harrassment by the Mexican Army and paramilitaries. Meanwhile Luis H. Alvarez, the so-called Commissioner for Peace continues to divide the indigenous through the municipal presidents of Chiapas and this, which in no way contributes to peace, is done to justify his massive salary and also to continue counterinsurgency efforts. Because he has already forgotten about the three conditions and has done nothing for them we, as Zapatista support bases who are imprisoned, say that he has contributed nothing to the dialogue, it is the government that continually deceives and mocks the indigenous of Mexico and not the indigenous themselves.
We believe that the EZLN has always respected their word and because of this they don't talk anymore as it is better that silence builds the hope of our communities in resistance because the Mexican government doesn't have time to listen, it only has time to put into practice in this country Bush's orders which only make Mexico grow poorer. With more than half of Mexico in poverty what are we the indigenous to say and in addition only for the fact of supporting just causes in poor communities the powerful say that we are or we support terrorists.
However, everyone that is familiar with the Zapatista struggle will not be left deceived because they know that it is a peaceful struggle where our most powerful weapon is reason, because no one can obstruct the recognition we demand of our rights as indigenous communities.
For a Liberty with Justice and Dignity

Angel Concepcio'n Perez Gutierrez

There are around 50 political prisoners in chile. When the dictatorship fell in 1990 none of the laws changed, just the face and name of the regime. Therefore many who took up arms in the 80's are still inside and many continue to struggle against the 'democracy' presented by the rich & ruling class, penalised under anti-terrorist and interior state security laws. All political prisoners in chile have suffered double-sentencing, in military courts aswell as civil tribunals. All suffer psycological and physical torture.

Kamina Libre
The Kamina Libre collective, created in 1996, with the main objective of taking action for the release of all chilean political prisoners and mapuche (indigenous) prisoners who, as with many native american communities, live a daily battle to protect their lands and culture from the onslaught of transnational developers. They have made great headway for prisoners rights within the high security prison in santiago, chile, through riots, hunger strikes and disobediance. For example they gained the solidarity of 30 odd, men in the prison to refuse visits for almost a year, untill the glass partition was brought down and people were allowed daylong visits with upto 7 people in place of 4 direct family only, no ontact visits. They have also secured the right to vegetarian meals and later to prepare their own meals; refused the imposition of prison uniforms; overthrew the censorship of reading materials and can now receive any kind of political material except anything to do with E.T.A.
Most recently the collective obtained the release through 'benefits' (day release pending full release) of compainero. Alvaro Rodriguez after their 3rd hunger strike in 13 months.
